ताराविलापः
Tārā’s Lament over Vāli
शेषे त्वं विषमे दुःखमकृत्वा वचनं मम।उपलोपचिते वीर सुदुःखे वसुधातले।।
śeṣe tvaṁ viṣame duḥkham akṛtvā vacanaṁ mama | upalopacite vīra suduḥkhe vasudhātale ||
勇士啊,你不听我的劝言,如今在这布满石砾、崎岖难安的大地上,痛苦地躺卧着。
'O hero! how is it that you are lying in a crimson bed of the pool of blood flowing from your body?
Dharma here highlights the value of prudent counsel and restraint: ignoring wise advice can lead to suffering and downfall.
After Vāli is struck down in battle, Tārā comes to him and laments that he did not heed her warnings and now lies wounded on the stony ground.
Tārā’s discernment and responsible counsel—she represents foresight and truth-speaking even when it is unwelcome.
