द्वितीयः सर्गः (Sarga 2): Sugriva’s Alarm and Hanuman’s Commission
यस्मात्तव भयं सौम्य पूर्वजात्पापकर्मणः।स नेह वाली दुष्टात्मा न ते पश्याम्यहं भयम्।।
yasmāt tava bhayaṃ saumya pūrvajāt pāpakarmaṇaḥ | sa neha vālī duṣṭātmā na te paśyāmy ahaṃ bhayam ||
温和的人啊,既然你的恐惧源于那位行为罪恶、意图邪恶的兄长,但那个瓦利并不在这里;所以我看不出此刻你有任何害怕的理由。
'Oh monkey, whoever is lily-livered cannot be steady. It is evident that your very nature as a monkey makes you restless.
Dharma here is practical discernment: fear should be proportionate to present reality, not allowed to dominate when the immediate danger is absent.
Hanumān notices Sugrīva’s agitation and reassures him that Vālī is not currently present, so panic is unnecessary.
