The Virtues of Daśaratha’s Ministers and the Order of Governance
तैर्मन्त्रिभिर्मन्त्रहिते नियुक्तैर्वृतोऽनुरक्तै: कुशलैस्समर्थै: ।स पार्थिवो दीप्तिमवाप युक्तस्तेजोमयैर्गोभिरिवोदितोऽर्क: ।।।।
tair mantribhir mantrahite niyuktair vṛto 'nuraktaiḥ kuśalaiḥ samarthaiḥ |
sa pārthivo dīptim avāpa yuktas tejomayair gobhir ivodito 'rkaḥ ||
他被那些为谋议其福祉而任命的群臣所环绕——忠诚、娴熟而能干——于是国王获得光辉,如同旭日升起,满布灿然光芒。
The eight ministers were Dhrishti, Jayanta,Vijaya, Siddhartha, Arthasadhaka, Ashoka, Mantrapala and Sumantra.
Dharma is strengthened through right counsel: when a ruler is supported by loyal and competent advisers committed to the king’s and kingdom’s welfare, governance becomes luminous and effective.
The sarga closes by summarizing how Daśaratha’s capable council enhances his glory and stability, using the sun metaphor.
