Sunassepha’s Rescue and Visvamitra’s Curse
tasya viśramamāṇasya śunaḥśepho mahāyaśāḥ | puṣkara-kṣetram āgamya viśvāmitraṃ dadarśa ha || tapyantam ṛṣibhis sārdhaṃ mātulaṃ paramāturaḥ ||
While the king was resting at Pushkara, the famous Sunassepha, very much distressed, happened to see his maternal uncle Viswamitra in the company of other sages performing austerities.
In distress, one seeks refuge in the wise and righteous; dharma supports approaching a capable protector/mentor rather than succumbing to despair.
Śunaḥśepa, suffering and seeking help, reaches Puṣkara and finds his uncle Viśvāmitra engaged in tapas with other sages.
Humility and reliance on righteous guidance: Śunaḥśepa seeks aid from a spiritually authoritative relative.
