Trishanku’s Bodily Ascent and the New Constellations
तेषां तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा देवानां मुनिपुङ्गव: ।अब्रवीत्सुमहद्वाक्यं कौशिक: सर्वदेवता:।।।।
teṣāṁ tad-vacanaṁ śrutvā devānāṁ muni-puṅgavaḥ |
abravīt su-mahad-vākyaṁ kauśikaḥ sarva-devatāḥ || 1.60.26 ||
听闻诸天之言后,考希迦——诸仙之冠——向一切神祇宣说了庄严而沉重的答复。
The son of Kushika (Viswamitra), the pre-eminent ascetic heard the gods and said these praiseworthy words:
Dharma is upheld through responsible speech: a sage’s reply is ‘weighty’ because it concerns truth, vows, and cosmic consequences.
After being petitioned to stop, Viśvāmitra prepares to justify his actions before the deities.
