雪山王希摩梵,这群山之最,将其女乌玛(Umā)——具足严峻苦行、为世人礼敬——许配给无比的鲁陀罗(Rudra)。
O child with a marvellous gait! I have related to you about Ganga flowing across the three worlds, Ganga who reached the heaven first and all that.
Dharma as rightful alliance: marriage is portrayed as a dharmic giving, grounded in merit (tapas) and cosmic suitability.
Viśvāmitra states that Umā, famed for austerity, was given by Himavān in marriage to Rudra.
Umā’s ascetic excellence and Himavān’s adherence to social-religious propriety in arranging a fitting union.
