The Account of Tāṭakā and the Royal Duty to Protect
न ह्येनां शापसम्स्पृष्टां कश्चिदुत्सहते पुमान्।निहन्तुं त्रिषु लोकेषु त्वामृते रघुनन्दन।।।।
na hy enāṃ śāpa-saṃspṛṣṭāṃ kaścid utsahate pumān | nihantuṃ triṣu lokeṣu tvām ṛte raghunandana || 1.25.15 ||
因她曾受诅咒所触,三界之中无人敢诛她;唯有你,罗睺族的欢喜者,方能为之。
O son of Raghu's dynasty she is maligned by the curse, and so not a single man in the three worlds except you, is competent to slay this yakshini.
Dharma assigns responsibility according to capacity: when a threat cannot be checked by ordinary means, the uniquely capable must act for the common good.
Viśvāmitra strengthens his command by stating that only Rāma has the competence to kill the curse-marked Tāṭakā.
