Commencement and Performance of Daśaratha’s Aśvamedha
प्रवर्ग्यं शास्त्रत: कृत्वा तथैवोपसदं द्विजा:चक्रुश्च विधिवत्सर्वमधिकं कर्म शास्त्रत:।।।।
pravargyaṃ śāstrataḥ kṛtvā tathaivopasadaṃ dvijāḥ |
cakruś ca vidhivat sarvam adhikaṃ karma śāstrataḥ ||
诸婆罗门依照圣典(śāstra)完成了“普拉瓦尔吉耶”(Pravargya),又同样举行了“乌帕萨德”(Upasad);并且一切附加的仪式也都按法度、依经而圆满完成。
Brahmins performed pravargya and upasada and other ceremonies as per the scriptures and traditions.
Dharma is thoroughness and fidelity to sacred instruction: even subsidiary rites matter, because righteousness includes completeness in one’s vowed responsibilities.
The verse summarizes the performance of Pravargya, Upasad, and other auxiliary procedures within the larger sacrificial program.
