Lakshmana Consoles Rama on Fate, Fortitude, and Right Action
या चेयं जगतां माता देवी लोकनमस्कृता।अस्याश्च चलनं भूमेर्दृश्यते सत्यसंश्रव।।3.66.9।।
yā ceyaṁ jagatāṁ mātā devī lokanamaskṛtā |
asyāś ca calanaṁ bhūmer dṛśyate satyasaṁśrava || 3.66.9 ||
即便这大地——诸世界之母、为众生礼敬的女神——有时也会震颤;噢,你的名声立于真实之上。
To sage Vasistha, our father's priest, were born a hundred sons in a day.But all of them were killed in one day the same way.
Dharma is steadiness in truth (satya) despite instability: even the Earth can shake, so a truth-anchored person must regain composure and act rightly.
Lakshmana offers a cosmic analogy—Earth’s trembling—to show that disturbance can occur even in the most stable beings.
Rama’s identity as satya-saṁśrava—one whose reputation and life are rooted in truth.
