सीतया लक्ष्मणप्रेषणम् — Sita urges Lakshmana to seek Rama
The crisis of the ‘distressed voice’
देवि देवमनुष्येषु गन्धर्वेषु पतत्रिषु।।3.45.11।।राक्षसेषु पिशाचेषु किन्नरेषु मृगेषु च।दानवेषु च घोरेषु स न विद्येत शोभने।।3.45.12।।यो रामं प्रतियुध्येत समरे वासवोपमम्।
devi devamanuṣyeṣu gandharveṣu patatriṣu | rākṣaseṣu piśāceṣu kinnareṣu mṛgeṣu ca | dānaveṣu ca ghoreṣu sa na vidyeta śobhane | yo rāmaṁ pratiyudhyeta samare vāsavopamam ||3.45.11-12||
光辉的夫人啊,在诸天与人类之中,在乾闼婆与飞鸟之中,在罗刹、毗舍遮、紧那罗之中,乃至在群兽之中,乃至在可怖的达那婆之中——也没有任何一位能在战场上与罗摩对敌;他在征战中宛如婆娑婆(因陀罗)。
O brilliant Devi ! none among gods or men, gandharvas, birds or goblins kinnaras, wild animals or dreadful demons can encounter Rama in war.
Dharma here is the cultivation of courage and right judgment: Lakṣmaṇa discourages fear by affirming a truthful assessment of Rāma’s capacity to protect, thereby guiding Sītā away from despair.
Lakṣmaṇa continues consoling Sītā, declaring that no being across realms can confront Rāma in battle, likening him to Indra.
Lakṣmaṇa’s protective confidence and rhetorical clarity—he strengthens Sītā’s faith through expansive, categorical assurance.
