Virādha-saṃvādaḥ — Encounter with Virādha in the Daṇḍakāraṇya
Aranya Kanda, Sarga 2
sītā pravepata udvegāt prāvāte kadalī yathā | tāṃ dṛṣṭvā rāghavaḥ sītāṃ virādhāṅka-gatāṃ śubhām | abravīl lakṣmaṇaṃ vākyaṃ mukhena pariśuṣyatā ||
Seeing the auspicious Sita in the lap of Viradha shaken out of anxiety, like a plantain tree in a strong wind, Rama with his throat parched said to Lakshmana:
The dharma of protection and marital guardianship: the sight of Sītā seized compels immediate responsible action, not indifference.
Virādha has physically taken Sītā; she trembles in fear. Rāma, shaken and urgent, turns to Lakṣmaṇa to respond.
Protective love and urgency grounded in duty—Rāma’s intense concern leads to coordinated action with Lakṣmaṇa.
