Educational Q&A

The verse highlights ethical resilience in adversity: accepting modest means without resentment, maintaining contentment with whatever is obtained, and using humble service as a dharmic way to endure hardship while protecting a larger duty.

A woman identifying herself as a ‘sairandhrī’ explains to Queen Sudeṣṇā that she has been moving from place to place doing service, living on what she receives, and that Draupadī once named her ‘Mālinī’; she has now arrived at Sudeṣṇā’s palace seeking employment.
