Bhīṣma–Arjuna Encounter Framed Cosmically
यस्य सूर्यसमा: पठच सपत्ना: स्यु: प्रहारिण: । कथमभ्युदये तेषां न प्रमुह्देत पण्डित:,जिसके सूर्यके समान तेजस्वी और प्रहार करनेमें समर्थ पाँच शत्रु हों और उन शत्रुओंका अभ्युदय हो रहा हो, तो उस दशामें विद्वान् पुरुषको भी कैसे मोह न होगा
yasya sūrya-samāḥ pañca sapatnāḥ syuḥ prahāriṇaḥ | katham abhyudaye teṣāṃ na pramuhyet paṇḍitaḥ ||
若一人有五个宿敌，光耀如日，且能一击摧折所向；而这些敌人又正当权势与福运上升之时——在此关头，纵是智者，又怎能全然不为所惑？此言揭示：强敌之势一旦骤起，亦足以动摇沉稳的判断；故当在政局与兵戈的重压之下，尤须警醒自持。
