अध्याय ५०: उत्तरेण सह अर्जुनस्य रथप्रयाणे ध्वजचिह्नैः कौरवसेनानिर्देशः

वैश्यो5धिगम्य वित्तानि ब्रह्मुकर्माणि कारयेत्‌ । शूद्र: शुश्रूषणं कुर्यात्‌ त्रिषु वर्णेषु नित्यश: । वन्दनायोगविधिभिर्वैतसीं वृत्तिमास्थित:,वैश्य कृषि और व्यापार आदिके द्वारा धनोपार्जन करके ब्राह्मणोंके द्वारा वेदोक्त कर्म करावें और शाूद्र वैतसीवृत्ति (बेंतके वृक्षकी भाँति नम्रता) का आश्रय ले प्रणाम और आज्ञापालन आदिके द्वारा सदा तीनों वर्णोके पास रहकर उनकी सेवा करे

kṛpa uvāca | vaiśyo ’dhigamya vittāni brāhma-karmāṇi kārayet | śūdraḥ śuśrūṣaṇaṃ kuryāt triṣu varṇeṣu nityaśaḥ | vandanāyoga-vidhibhir vaitasīṃ vṛttim āsthitaḥ |

克利帕说道:“吠舍既得财货,当请婆罗门为其安排并施行吠陀所规定的仪式。首陀罗当恒常侍奉三上姓。奉行所谓‘藤杖之道(vaitasī)’——如藤如杖般柔顺谦卑——以恭敬礼拜与守纪顺从,常伴其侧,持续服事。”
