iti śrīmahābhārate virāṭaparvaṇi goharaṇaparvaṇi uttaragograhe autpātiko nāma ṣaṭcatvāriṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ

As a colophon, the line does not teach through direct instruction; it frames the chapter’s theme—“portents”—which in epic ethics often signals that unrighteous aggression and impending conflict carry moral and cosmic consequences.
This is the closing formula for the chapter: it locates the story within Virāṭa Parva, inside the cattle-raid episode connected with Uttara’s cattle, and states that the forty-sixth chapter—titled “Autpātika” (Portents)—has concluded.
