Uttara’s Resolve and Draupadī’s Identification of Bṛhannadā as Charioteer (विराट पर्व, अध्याय ३४)
आचक्षध्वं पुरं गत्वा संग्रामविजयं मम । कुमार्य: समलंकृत्य पर्यागच्छन्तु मे पुरात्,“दूतो! तुमलोग नगरमें जाकर सूचना दो कि युद्धमें मेरी विजय हुई है। कुमारी कन्याएँ शृंगार करके स्वागतके लिये नगरसे बाहर आ जायाँ
ācakṣadhvaṃ puraṃ gatvā saṅgrāmavijayaṃ mama | kumāryaḥ samalaṅkṛtya paryāgacchantu me purāt ||
毗湿摩波耶那说:“你们去城中宣告:我已在战场得胜。让少女们盛装妆饰,从城里出来迎接我。”
(वैशग्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights a social-ethical dimension of kingship: victory is not merely personal but is publicly communicated and ritually marked through communal celebration and formal reception, reflecting norms of honor, status, and civic order.
A message is being sent to the city to proclaim the speaker’s victory in battle, and the maidens are instructed to adorn themselves and come out of the city to offer a ceremonial welcome.
