Pulastya’s Instruction
गत्वा मधुवटीं चैव देव्यास्तीर्थे नर: शुचि: । तत्र स्नात्वार्चयित्वा च पितृन् देवांश्व॒ पूरुष:
gatvā madhuvaṭīṃ caiva devyās tīrthe naraḥ śuciḥ | tatra snātvārcayitvā ca pitṝn devāṃś ca pūruṣaḥ ||
清净之人既至摩度婆底(Madhuvaṭī),女神之圣渡处,当于彼处沐浴;既浴毕,复当如法敬礼祭奉诸祖灵(Pitṛ)与诸天(Deva)。
घुलस्त्य उवाच
Pilgrimage is fulfilled through śauca (purity) and right action: one should bathe at the sacred place and then honour both the gods and the ancestors, integrating devotion with gratitude to one’s lineage.
The speaker gives a prescriptive instruction about visiting the sacred site called Madhuvaṭī at the Goddess’s tīrtha, where the pilgrim should bathe and perform worship for the Pitṛs and the Devas.
