Divākara-prasāda and the Establishment of Akṣaya-anna
Sūrya’s Favor and Inexhaustible Provision
एवं शेषं यदि पुत्रेषु ते स्या- देतद् राजंस्त्वरमाण: कुरुष्व | तथैतदेवं न करोषि राजन् ध्रुवं कुरूणां भविता विनाश:,राजन! ऐसा करनेपर भी यदि आपके पुत्रोंका भाग्य शेष होगा तो उनका राज्य उनके पास रह जायगा; अतः आप शीघ्र ही यह काम कर डालिये। महाराज! यदि आप ऐसा न करेंगे तो कौरवकुलका निश्चय ही नाश हो जायगा
evaṁ śeṣaṁ yadi putreṣu te syād etad rājan tvaramāṇaḥ kuruṣva | tathaitad evaṁ na karoṣi rājan dhruvaṁ kurūṇāṁ bhavitā vināśaḥ ||
毗度罗催促国王勿再迟延:“若你行了当行之事之后,你诸子尚有余福,其王权仍可延续。故大王当速行此策;若不如此,大王啊,俱卢一族的毁灭必将无可避免地到来。”
विदुर उवाच
Timely, decisive action aligned with dharma is essential in governance. Even if outcomes depend partly on fate (śeṣa), a ruler must act promptly to prevent preventable ruin; negligence makes catastrophe certain.
Vidura is warning the king that immediate corrective measures are needed regarding the king’s sons and the stability of the realm. He argues that swift action may preserve their position if any good fortune remains, but inaction will inevitably lead to the downfall of the Kuru lineage.
