धर्म पूर्वे धनं मध्ये जघन्ये काममाचरेत्‌ । अहन्यनुचरेदेवमेष शास्त्रकृतो विधि:

Transliteration

dharmaṁ pūrve dhanaṁ madhye jaghanye kāmam ācaret | ahany anucared evam eṣa śāstrakṛto vidhiḥ ||

Translation

毗湿摩波耶那说道：“当先行持法（dharma），于中段追求财富（artha），于后段顾及欲乐（kāma）。日日如是自持——此乃诸论典（śāstra）所制定之法则。”
