यस्य धर्मो हि धर्मार्थ क्लेशभाड़ू न स पण्डित: । न स धर्मस्य वेदार्थ सूर्यस्यान्ध: प्रभामिव,जिसका धर्म केवल धर्मके लिये ही होता है, वह धर्मके नामपर केवल क्लेश उठानेवाला मानव बुद्धिमान नहीं है। जैसे अन्धा सूर्यकी प्रभाको नहीं जानता, उसी प्रकार वह धर्मके अर्थको नहीं समझता है

yasya dharmo hi dharmārthaḥ kleśabhāḍū na sa paṇḍitaḥ | na sa dharmasya vedārthaḥ sūryasyāndhaḥ prabhām iva ||

毗湿摩波耶那说道:“若有人只为‘法’之名而行法,使之沦为苦难的重担,此人并非智者。他不懂法的意义与旨趣,正如盲者不能见太阳的光辉。”
