कौसल्यामातरिष्टांस्ते वरानद्य ददानि कान्‌ | यह सब हो जानेपर इन्द्र आदि देवताओंसहित ब्रह्माने भगवान्‌ रामसे कहा --'कौसल्यानन्दन! कहो, आज मैं तुम्हें कौन-कौनसे अभीष्ट वर प्रदान करूँ? ।। वत्रे राम: स्थितिं धर्मे शत्रुभिश्वापराजयम्‌

kausalyā-mātariṣṭāṁs te varān adya dadāni kān | yat sarvaṁ ho jāne para indra-ādi devatāoṁ-sahita brahmāne bhagavān rāma-se kahā— “kausalyā-nandana! kaho, āja maiṁ tumheṁ kauna-kaun se abhīṣṭa vara pradāna karūṁ?” || tatra rāmaḥ sthitiṁ dharme śatrubhiś cāparājayam

马尔坎德耶说道:“噢,憍萨利耶之子,今日我将赐予你所愿之福。”当这一切既成之后,梵天——与因陀罗等诸神同来——对罗摩世尊说道:“憍萨利耶的欢喜啊,说吧:今日你所珍爱的诸愿,我当赐你哪些?”于是罗摩祈求:在达摩中坚住不移,并对诸敌不可战胜——所求非为自享,而是为得力量以护持正法、完成使命。
