Educational Q&A

The verse underscores dharma as a shared social undertaking: when rightful order is to be restored, elders and spiritual authorities guide the process, and the wider community participates with disciplined intent—seeking reconciliation and proper return rather than coercion.

Mārkaṇḍeya describes a journey undertaken to bring Rāma back. Vasiṣṭha and Vāmadeva lead, joined by thousands of brāhmaṇas and by citizens and rural subjects, all united by the desire to escort or persuade Rāma to return.
