The verse highlights the ethical power of satsanga—uplifting company and supportive speech. In distress, dharmic steadiness is strengthened not only by action but also by wise, favorable conversation with saints and the virtuous, embodied here by Kṛṣṇa and the brahmarṣis.
Vaiśampāyana narrates to King Janamejaya that Kṛṣṇa (Janārdana) remains for a while with Mārkaṇḍeya and other seers and with the Pāṇḍavas, conversing in a pleasing and supportive manner—setting the stage for his departure (toward Dvārakā in the surrounding context).
