Educational Q&A

The verse uses the sun dispelling darkness as an ethical image: rightful, divinely sanctioned leadership brings clarity, protection, and order, removing fear and confusion just as light removes night.

Mārkaṇḍeya describes Kārttikeya (Skanda), Agni’s son, being surrounded and consecrated by the gods as their commander-in-chief; his radiance and auspicious presence are compared to the sun rising after destroying darkness.
