Citrasena and the Kaurava engagement
अरजे वाससी रक्ते वसान: पावकात्मज: । भाति दीप्तवपु: श्रीमान् रक्ताभ्राभ्यामिवांशुमान्,अग्निनन्दन स्कन्द लाल रंगके दो स्वच्छ वस्त्र धारण किये कान्तिमान् एवं तेजस्वी शरीरसे ऐसी शोभा पा रहे थे, मानो दो लाल बादलोंके साथ भगवान् अंशुमाली (सूर्य) सुशोभित हो रहे हों
araje vāsasī rakte vasānaḥ pāvakātmajaḥ | bhāti dīptavapuḥ śrīmān raktābhrābhyām ivāṃśumān ||
马尔坎德耶说道:斯坎达——火神之子——身着两袭洁净无瑕的赤色衣裳,圣躯光耀吉祥,灿然夺目;宛如太阳(阿姆舒曼)披戴两朵绯红云霞,辉光不减反增。
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse links outer appearance to inner qualities: purity (araje) and disciplined splendor (śrīmān, dīptavapuḥ) frame divine power as auspicious and ethically ordered, not chaotic—radiance that elevates rather than corrupts.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes Skanda’s striking appearance: he wears two clean red garments and shines brilliantly, compared to the sun beautified by two crimson clouds—an image emphasizing his divine majesty.
