करोमि किं च ते शक्र शासन तद् ब्रवीहि मे । स्कन्द बोले--देवेन्द्र! आप ही देवराजके पदपर प्रतिष्ठित रहें। आपका कल्याण हो। आप ही तीनों लोकोंके तथा मेरे भी स्वामी हैं। आपकी किस आज्ञाका पालन करूँ---? यह मुझे बतानेकी कृपा करें
karomi kiṁ ca te śakra śāsana tad bravīhi me | skanda uvāca—devendra! āp hī devarāja-ke pada-par pratiṣṭhita raheṁ. āp-kā kalyāṇa ho. āp hī trilo-ka ke tathā mere bhī svāmī haiṁ. āp-kī kis ājñā kā pālana karūṁ—yah mujhe batāne kī kṛpā kareṁ ||
斯堪达说道:“噢,释迦罗(因陀罗),请告诉我:你的哪一道命令要我奉行?愿你稳固安住于天众之王位,愿吉祥安泰随侍于你。你是三界之主——亦是我的主。故请示我:我当遵从你哪一项敕令?”
स्कन्द उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic obedience and humility within a rightful hierarchy: even a powerful deity like Skanda frames his action as service to legitimate authority (Indra), asking clearly what duty is to be performed rather than acting from ego or impulse.
Skanda addresses Indra respectfully, affirming Indra’s sovereignty over the three worlds and over himself, and requests explicit instruction about which command he should execute—setting the stage for a divinely sanctioned action or mission.
