Adhyāya 227: Duryodhana’s Deliberation and the Ghoṣa-yātrā Pretext
Dvaita-vana
षड्वक््त्रस्य तु माहात्म्यं कुक्कुटस्य तु साधनम् | शकक््त्या देव्या: साधनं च तथा पारिषदामपि,स्कन्दकी महिमा, उनके द्वारा कुक्कुट पक्षीका धारण, देवीके समान प्रभावशालिनी शक्तिका ग्रहण तथा पार्षदोंका वरण आदि कुमारके सभी कार्योंको विश्वामित्रने लोकहितके लिये आवश्यक सिद्ध किया। अतः विश्वामित्र मुनि कुमारके अधिक प्रिय हो गये
ṣaḍvaktrasya tu māhātmyaṃ kukkuṭasya tu sādhanam | śaktyā devyāḥ sādhanam ca tathā pāriṣadām api |
维湿瓦密多罗宣示:库玛罗的一切作为,皆为世间福祉所必需——六面神的威德,取雄鸡为徽记与乘具,受纳女神那威猛无比的“神力”(Śakti),并拣选随从侍卫。正因他如此肯定并引导库玛罗为公利而行的使命,仙人维湿瓦密多罗遂为其所尤爱。
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Divine attributes and symbols are not mere ornamentation; when aligned with lokahita (the common good), they become ethically meaningful supports for righteous action. The verse highlights legitimizing power and authority through service to the world rather than personal display.
Mārkaṇḍeya explains that Viśvāmitra affirmed and justified Kumāra/Skanda’s distinctive features and choices—his six-faced form, the rooster emblem, the acceptance of the divine Śakti, and the selection of attendants—as necessary for the world’s welfare, which made Viśvāmitra especially dear to Skanda.
