gṛhītaṃ tu dhanus tena vipulaṃ lomaharṣaṇam | tripuranāśako bhagavān śivena devaśatrūṇāṃ vināśārthaṃ yat parityaktaṃ tad balavān skandaḥ samutthāpya mahābalena nādaṃ cakāra |

मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Divine power is portrayed as being exercised for the protection of dharma: formidable weapons and strength are legitimate when directed toward restraining forces that endanger cosmic and moral order, not for personal gain.
