Draupadī and Satyabhāmā on ethical household conduct

iti śrīmahābhārate vanaparvaṇi mārkaṇḍeyasamāsyāparvaṇi āṅgirasopākhyāne ekaviṃśatyadhikadvāśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ | itthaṃ śrīmahābhārate vanaparva-ke antargata mārkaṇḍeyasamāsyāparva meṃ āṅgirasopākhyāna-viṣayaka do sau ikkīsavāṃ adhyāya pūrā huā |

Educational Q&A

This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement: its function is to mark closure and preserve the integrity of transmission. Indirectly, it reinforces the Mahābhārata’s method of teaching dharma through framed episodes (upākhyānas) embedded within larger parvans.

The speaker label ‘Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca’ and the concluding formula ‘iti … adhyāyaḥ’ indicate that Markandeya’s telling of the Āṅgirasa-related episode has reached its end, and the 221st chapter is formally concluded within the Vana Parva.
