Skanda–Mātṛgaṇa-janma: Kumārakāḥ, Kanyāgaṇāḥ, and the Vīrāṣṭaka

āśramaṃ ca mayā nīto na ca prāṇair vyayujyata | naraśreṣṭha dvijaśreṣṭha | tad-anantaraṃ mayā tasya śarīrād bāṇaḥ kṛṣṭaḥ, taṃ cāśramaṃ prāpitaḥ; paraṃtu tasya prāṇā na gatāḥ |

Educational Q&A

Even when harm has occurred, dharma can still be served through immediate compassion and responsible care—protecting life, aiding the injured, and showing reverence to ascetics and the twice-born.

The hunter reports that he escorted the wounded person to the hermitage, extracted the arrow from the body, and ensured safe arrival; despite the injury, the victim’s life-breaths did not depart.
