Skanda–Mātṛgaṇa-janma: Kumārakāḥ, Kanyāgaṇāḥ, and the Vīrāṣṭaka (स्कन्द-मातृगण-सम्भवः)
सुखभश्रव्यतया विद्वन् मुहूर्त इव मे गत: । न हि तृप्तो5स्मि भगवन् शृण्वानो धर्ममुत्तमम्,विद्वन! यह कथा सुननेमें इतनी सुखद थी कि मेरा बहुत-सा समय भी दो घड़ीके समान बीत गया। भगवन्! आपके मुखसे यह धर्मकी उत्तम कथा सुनते-सुनते मुझे तृप्ति ही नहीं हो रही है
sukhabhaśravyatayā vidvan muhūrta iva me gataḥ | na hi tṛpto 'smi bhagavan śṛṇvāno dharmam uttamam ||
贤者啊,此事听来如此悦耳,以至于漫长的时光在我看来仿佛一瞬即逝。尊者啊,即便我正从你口中聆听至上的法(dharma)教诲,我仍不觉满足——求闻之心尚未得偿。
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse highlights the value of śravaṇa—attentive listening to dharma. True ethical instruction is not merely informative but transformative and deeply pleasing, creating an ongoing thirst to hear and internalize what is right.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses a revered, learned speaker after hearing a discourse on dharma. He says the teaching was so enjoyable that time seemed to pass like a moment, and he still feels unsated—requesting, by implication, that the instruction continue.
