Skanda–Mātṛgaṇa-janma: Kumārakāḥ, Kanyāgaṇāḥ, and the Vīrāṣṭaka (स्कन्द-मातृगण-सम्भवः)
कर्मदोषश्न वै विद्वन्नात्मजातिकृतेन ते । कज्चित् कालमुष्यतां वै ततो5सि भविता द्विज:,विद्वन! आपको जो यह कर्मदोष (दूषित कर्म) प्राप्त हुआ है, वह आपके पूर्वजन्मके कर्मका फल है। इस जन्मके नहीं। अत: कुछ कालतक और इसी रूपमें रहें। फिर आप ब्राह्मण हो जायँगे
karmadoṣo na vai vidvann ātmajātikṛtena te | kañcit kālam uṣyatāṃ vai tato ’si bhavitā dvijaḥ ||
婆罗门说道:“智者啊,落在你身上的这业垢(karmadoṣa),并非今生所作之业的结果;它是前世业力的果报。因此,你还须在此等境况中停留一段时日;随后,你将再度成为婆罗门。”
ब्राह्मण उवाच
The verse teaches karmic continuity across births: present suffering or stigma may arise from past-life actions rather than current-life deeds, and endurance over time can lead to restoration of one’s rightful dharmic status.
A Brahmin addresses a learned person who is experiencing a degraded condition, explaining that it is due to past karma and advising him to remain in that state for a while longer, after which he will regain the status of a dvija (Brahmin/twice-born).
