Dharma-vyādha’s Analysis of Moral Decline and the Mahābhūta–Guṇa Schema (धर्मव्याधोपदेशः)
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca punaḥ punar ahaṃ śrotuṃ kathāṃ dharmasamāśrayām | puṇyām icchāmi dharmajña kathyamānāṃ tvayā vibho ||
The verse highlights śravaṇa (attentive listening) to dharma-centered teaching as itself a valued ethical practice: one should repeatedly seek narratives and instructions rooted in dharma, regarding them as puṇya (spiritually meritorious) and transformative.
Yudhiṣṭhira, positioned as a seeker of righteousness, addresses a revered speaker (called dharmajña and vibhu) and requests that the ongoing dharma-oriented account be told again, expressing eagerness to hear it repeatedly for its sacred and instructive value.
