Brāhmaṇas Follow into Exile and Śaunaka’s Instruction
यो दद्यादपरिक्लिष्टमन्नमध्वनि वर्तते | भ्रान्तायादृष्टपूर्वाय तस्य पुण्यफलं महत्,जो गृहस्थ अपरिचित थके-माँदे पथिकको प्रसन्नतापूर्वक भोजन देता है, उसे महान् पुण्यफलकी प्राप्ति होती है
yo dadyād aparikliṣṭam annam adhvani vartate | bhrāntāyādṛṣṭapūrvāya tasya puṇyaphalaṁ mahat |
玉提湿陀罗说:凡在旅途中,毫不吝惜地以食物施与疲惫的行者——迷失而与己素不相识者——必得广大功德之果报。
युधिछिर उवाच
Ungrudging hospitality—especially feeding a weary, lost stranger on the road—is a major duty of the householder and yields great merit (puṇya).
Yudhiṣṭhira states a dharma-principle: the act of giving food to an unknown, fatigued traveler during one’s journey is praised as highly meritorious.
