The verse highlights dharma as steadfast adherence to a righteous commitment: Śibi remains calm, honors the Brahmin, and accepts a difficult command without resentment—showing that virtue is measured by composure, reverence, and integrity under trial.
A Brahmin instructs Śibi to eat what has been placed in a covered vessel. Śibi agrees immediately, honors the Brahmin, opens the lid, and prepares to eat—demonstrating willingness to endure hardship to uphold duty and respect.
