त॑ भार्या प्रत्युवाचाथ धर्ममेवानुतन्वती । वैन्यं गत्वा महात्मानमर्थयस्व धनं बहु,अत्रिकी पत्नी भी धर्मका ही अनुसरण करनेवाली थी। उसने यज्ञ-यागादिके रूपमें धर्मके ही विस्तारपर दृष्टि रखकर पतिको उत्तर दिया--'प्राणनाथ! आप धर्मात्मा राजा वैन्यके पास जाकर अधिक धनकी याचना कीजिये

tāṁ bhāryā pratyuvācātha dharmam evānutanvatī | vainyaṁ gatvā mahātmānam arthayasva dhanaṁ bahu ||

这时,他的妻子——一心维护并弘扬达摩者——答道:“你去见那位大心之王瓦伊尼亚(Vainya),向他求取丰厚的财物。”她的劝告并非为纵欲享乐而求资财,而是为扶持正法之责与祭祀等宗教功业。
