Vaiśaṃpāyana–Janamejaya Narrative
न्यवारयत् तौ प्रहसन् कुन्तीपुत्रो वृकोदर: । शक्तोहं राक्षसस्येति प्रेक्षध्वमिति चाब्रवीत्,परंतु कुन्तीकुमार भीमसेनने हँसकर उन दोनोंको रोक दिया और कहा--“मैं अकेला ही इस राक्षसके लिये पर्याप्त हूँ। तुमलोग चुप-चाप देखते रहो”
nyavārayat tau prahasan kuntīputro vṛkodaraḥ | śakto'haṃ rākṣasasye'ti prekṣadhvam iti cābravīt ||
毗耶娑波耶那说道:毗摩——昆蒂之子、“狼腹者”弗利科达罗——笑着拦住二人,宣言道:“区区罗刹,我一人足矣。你们安静站着,只管看。”这一刻凸显了毗摩护佑同伴的决心与自信:他以一己之身担起责任,要将伙伴们隔绝于危险之外。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A capable person should take responsibility to protect others when danger arises, combining courage with restraint—Bhīma prevents others from rushing in and assumes the risk himself.
As a rākṣasa threat approaches, Bhīma laughs confidently, restrains two companions from intervening, and tells them to stand aside and watch because he alone is sufficient to face the demon.
