Educational Q&A

The verse highlights ethical discernment and self-mastery: when faced with an improper proposition, one should respond with forethought (prekṣāpūrvam) and firm self-control (ātmanā), and later speak truthfully to elders to uphold dharma.

Parāvasu’s wife recounts to her elder (her father-in-law) the words spoken by Yavakrī and explains how she thoughtfully rejected him, giving a complete report of the incident.
