Udyoga Parva Adhyāya 58 — Saṃjaya’s Audience and Kṛṣṇa’s Deterrent Counsel (संजय-प्रवेशः कृष्णवाक्यं च)

तदनन्तर इन्द्रके समान पराक्रमी तथा समस्त आभूषणोंसे विभूषित वक्ताओंमें श्रेष्ठ श्रीकृष्ण इन्द्रध्वजके समान उठ बैठे और मुझसे पहले तो मृदुल एवं मनको आह्लाद प्रदान करनेवाली प्रवचनयोग्य वाणी बोले। फिर वह वाणी अत्यन्त दारुणरूपमें प्रकट हुई, जो आपके पुत्रोंके लिये भय उपस्थित करनेवाली थी ।।

sañjaya uvāca | tadanantara indrakē samāna-parākramī tathā samasta-ābhūṣaṇaiḥ vibhūṣitaḥ vaktṝṇāṃ śreṣṭhaḥ śrīkṛṣṇa indra-dhvajavat utthāya upāviśat, mama pūrvaṃ tu mṛduṃ mana-āhlāda-pradāyinīṃ pravacana-yogyāṃ vāṇīm uvāca | punaḥ sā vāṇī atyanta-dāruṇa-rūpeṇa prādurabhavat, yā tava putrāṇāṃ bhayaṃ upasthāpayantī āsīt || vācaṃ tāṃ vacanārhasya śikṣā-akṣara-samanvitām | aśrauṣam aham iṣṭārthāṃ paścād hṛdaya-hāriṇīm ||

三阇耶说:其后,圣克里希那——勇武可比因陀罗,佩饰齐备,且为众说者之冠——如因陀罗之旌旗般起身就座。起初他以温柔之声开言,适于劝谏,使人心安而欢悦;继而那同一番言辞骤然转为极其严厉,使你的诸子心生恐惧。我听见这位当受敬听者的话语——字字皆为训诫——既阐明所欲之义,又摄人心魄。
