The verse highlights dharma-guided leadership: Yudhiṣṭhira, characterized as dharmātmā, responds by recognizing fortitude (dhairya) and valor (vīrya) as ethical strengths when aligned with righteous purpose and supported by just alliances.
Sañjaya reports that after someone has spoken, King Yudhiṣṭhira replies, pointing to the courage and martial strength available to their side—specifically that the Pañcālas stand together with the Pāṇḍavas—signaling consolidated support in the lead-up to conflict.
