बुद्धया भयं प्रणुदति तपसा विन्दते महत्‌ | गुरुशुश्रूषया ज्ञानं शान्तिं योगेन विन्दति

buddhyā bhayaṁ praṇudati tapasā vindate mahat | guruśuśrūṣayā jñānaṁ śāntiṁ yogena vindati ||

毗度罗教诲说:人以澄明的辨慧驱散恐惧;以苦行而得更高之境;以恭敬奉事师长而获真实之智;以严整的瑜伽修持而得内心安宁。在《优提瑜伽篇》战前紧迫的劝诫中,此颂呈现一条切实的自我制御之阶梯,作为立德守义的根基。
