उद्योगपर्व — अध्याय 33: धृतराष्ट्र-विदुर संवादः (विदुरनीतिः)
वनस्पतेरपक्वानि फलानि प्रचिनोति यः । स नाप्रोति रसं तेभ्यो बीजं चास्य विनश्यति,जो पेड़से कच्चे फलोंको तोड़ता है, वह उन फलोंसे रस तो पाता नहीं, परंतु उस वृक्षके बीजका नाश हो जाता है
vanaspater apakvāni phalāni pracinoti yaḥ | sa nāpnoti rasaṁ tebhyo bījaṁ cāsya vinaśyati ||
毗度罗说道:“凡人摘取树上未熟之果,终不得其真汁;反而伤及根本——其种子亦将败坏。同样,贪欲而仓促的举动,既无真实利益,且毁损来日之兴盛。”
विदुर उवाच
Do not act out of haste or greed: taking benefits prematurely brings little real gain and damages the future source of prosperity—like plucking unripe fruit that yields no juice and ruins the seed.
