Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 30: Sañjaya’s Departure and Yudhiṣṭhira’s Commission of Greetings
अथ दुर्योधन ब्रूया राजपुत्रममर्षणम् । मध्ये कुरूणामासीनमनुनीय पुन: पुनः,तदनन्तर कौरवोंकी सभामें बैठे हुए अमर्षमें भरे रहनेवाले राजकुमार दुर्योधनसे बार- बार अनुनय-विनय करके कहना--
atha duryodhana brūyā rājaputram amarṣaṇam | madhye kurūṇām āsīnam anunīya punaḥ punaḥ ||
随后,你当去对杜尤陀那(Duryodhana)说话——那位怨愤翻涌的王子,正坐在俱卢众的议会中央;你要以温言软语一再劝慰、反复恳请,然后再向他陈说。
युधिछिर उवाच
Even when the other party is inflamed with resentment, one should first employ conciliatory speech and repeated persuasion—exhausting peaceful, dharmic means before allowing matters to move toward violence.
Yudhiṣṭhira gives guidance about approaching Duryodhana in the Kuru assembly: address him respectfully and try to soften him through repeated entreaty, indicating a diplomatic attempt to avert escalation.
