Adhyāya 195 — Arjuna’s Capability and Restraint Regarding Divyāstras

भारत! उसमें एक हजार हाथीसवार, दस हजार घुड़सवार, एक हजार रथी और कई सहस्र पैदल सैनिक थे ।।
vaiśampāyana uvāca | bharata! tatra gajasāhasram, aśvasāhasra-daśakam, rathisāhasram, padātīnāṁ ca bahu-sahasram āsīt | cekitānaḥ sva-sainyena mahatā pārthivarṣabha | dhṛṣṭaketuś ca cedīnāṁ praṇetā pārthivo yayau nṛpaśreṣṭha ||
毗湿摩波衍那说:婆罗多啊,在那支军中,有千名象骑、万名马骑、千名车战士,以及数千步卒。切吉多那(Cekitāna)率其大军出发;而车提国(Cedi)的王族统帅德里什塔凯图(Dhṛṣṭaketu)亦与之同行——此乃盟友有序集结之记述,为一场肩负沉重责任、并具深远道德后果的战争而行。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined preparation and the gathering of allies under recognized leaders, implying that when rulers move toward conflict, they bear heightened responsibility to act with restraint, clarity of purpose, and adherence to dharma.
Vaiśampāyana enumerates the troop composition and notes that Cekitāna, along with Dhṛṣṭaketu—the leader of the Cedis—marches with a large force, indicating allied kings joining together as the great war approaches.
