भारत! उसमें एक हजार हाथीसवार, दस हजार घुड़सवार, एक हजार रथी और कई सहस्र पैदल सैनिक थे ।।

Transliteration

vaiśampāyana uvāca | bharata! tatra gajasāhasram, aśvasāhasra-daśakam, rathisāhasram, padātīnāṁ ca bahu-sahasram āsīt | cekitānaḥ sva-sainyena mahatā pārthivarṣabha | dhṛṣṭaketuś ca cedīnāṁ praṇetā pārthivo yayau nṛpaśreṣṭha ||

Translation

毗湿摩波衍那说：婆罗多啊，在那支军中，有千名象骑、万名马骑、千名车战士，以及数千步卒。切吉多那（Cekitāna）率其大军出发；而车提国（Cedi）的王族统帅德里什塔凯图（Dhṛṣṭaketu）亦与之同行——此乃盟友有序集结之记述，为一场肩负沉重责任、并具深远道德后果的战争而行。
