Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores that certain conflicts are judged not only by human spectators but also by moral and cosmic witnesses—brāhmaṇas, ascetics, and the gods—highlighting that warfare and political action must be measured against dharma and righteous conduct.

Bhīṣma describes a scene where brāhmaṇas, forest ascetics, and the gods led by Indra gather to watch an extraordinary battle, emphasizing its grandeur and its significance beyond ordinary human affairs.
