तं तु वैवाहिकं दृष्टवा कन्येयं समुपार्जितम् । अब्रवीत् तत्र गाड़ेय॑ं मन्त्रिमध्ये द्विजर्षभ,द्विजश्रेष्ठ! वहाँ वैवाहिक आयोजन आरम्भ हुआ देख यह कन्या मन्त्रियोंके बीचमें गंगानन्दन भीष्मसे बोली--
taṃ tu vaivāhikaṃ dṛṣṭvā kanyeyaṃ samupārjitam | abravīt tatra gāḍeyaṃ mantrimadhye dvijarṣabha ||
她见婚礼仪式已然开始,自己也被作为婚配之人而定下,便在群臣之间,当场对恒河之子毗湿摩开口,称他为“二次生者中之最”。
होत्रवाहन उवाच
The verse highlights that marriage and allied duties are not merely private acts but matters of dharma that may be questioned publicly before elders and authorities; ethical legitimacy (rightful acquisition/arrangement and consent) is expected to withstand scrutiny in a royal court.
A maiden, seeing the wedding proceedings underway and herself treated as the bride-to-be, addresses Bhīṣma in the presence of ministers, setting up a formal appeal or statement to a leading guardian of dharma and statecraft.
