भीष्म उवाच
The verse frames battle not merely as violence but as a kṣatriya arena where one may erase prior dishonor through courageous action and thereby establish lasting good fame—highlighting the ethical weight placed on reputation, resolve, and duty in the epic’s war ethos.
Bhīṣma points out a particular warrior and predicts his conduct: he will enter the Kuru forces and fight zealously, aiming to remove earlier disgrace and to broadcast his superior renown through valor in the coming conflict.
