Ulūka’s Provocation and Keśava’s Counter-Message (उलूकदूत्ये केशवप्रत्युत्तरम्)
क्लिष्टाया वर्षपूगांश्न मातुर्मातृहिते स्थित: । प्रमार्जाश्रु रणे जित्वा सम्मानं परमावह
kliṣṭāyā varṣa-pūgān mātur mātṛ-hite sthitaḥ | pramārjāśru raṇe jitvā sammānaṃ paramāvaha ||
三阇耶说道:“你的母亲多年困苦煎熬。故当为母之福祉而坚定不移——拭去她的泪水,并以战场之胜,成就至高荣誉。”
संजय उवाच
One should act with steadfast concern for a parent’s welfare, combining compassion (wiping away tears) with duty appropriate to one’s role (seeking victory and honor in battle).
Sañjaya reports an exhortation addressed to a warrior: remembering the mother’s long suffering, the addressee is urged to act for her benefit—console her and secure victory, thereby restoring dignity and honor.
