The verse teaches self-respect and inner fortitude: do not belittle yourself, do not live by petty supports, cultivate an auspicious mind through noble intentions, and withdraw from fear by steady self-control.
Vāyu (the Wind-god) addresses a listener with exhortation and counsel, urging them to abandon self-contempt and fear, and to stabilize the mind in auspicious resolve—guidance suited to a moment of pressure and decision in the Udyoga Parva.
