Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 130: Kuntī’s Instruction on Rājadharma and Daṇḍanīti
“कौरवसभामें जो घटना घटित हुई है, उसे आप लोगोंने प्रत्यक्ष देखा है। मूर्ख दुर्योधन किस प्रकार अशिष्टकी भाँति आज रोषपूर्वक सभासे उठ गया था ।। वदत्यनीशमात्मानं धृतराष्ट्रो महीपति: । आपृच्छे भवत: सर्वान् गमिष्यामि युधिष्ठिरम्,“महाराज धृतराष्ट्र भी अपने-आपको असमर्थ बता रहे हैं। अत: अब मैं आप सब लोगोंसे आज्ञा चाहता हूँ। मैं युधिष्ठिरके पास जाऊँगा”

kauravasabhāyāṃ yā ghaṭanā ghaṭitā sā yuṣmābhiḥ pratyakṣaṃ dṛṣṭā | mūrkho duryodhanaḥ kathaṃ yathā aśiṣṭavat adya roṣapūrvakaṃ sabhāto utthitaḥ ||
vadaty anīśam ātmānaṃ dhṛtarāṣṭro mahīpatiḥ |
āpr̥cche bhavataḥ sarvān gamiṣyāmi yudhiṣṭhiram ||
毗湿摩波耶那说道:“你们都亲眼见到在俱卢族(考罗婆)议会中发生的事:愚昧的难敌(杜尤陀那)举止失礼,今日怒而起身,冲出殿堂。如今国王持国自称无能为力,说道:‘我向诸位告辞;蒙诸位允准,我将前往见坚战(尤迪希提罗)。’”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Public misconduct (Duryodhana’s angry, discourteous exit) is a symptom of adharma, but the deeper ethical warning is about leadership: a king who admits powerlessness and fails to restrain wrongdoing becomes complicit in the moral decline of the polity.
After an incident in the Kaurava court that everyone has witnessed—Duryodhana rising in anger and leaving—Dhṛtarāṣṭra declares himself unable to act effectively and formally asks leave of those present, saying he will go to meet Yudhiṣṭhira.
